Hello, my growing mystic crewe of motley invaders,
My Bunday post is a little late this week. For May’s activities over at SaveABunny, that excellent bunny no-kill sanctuary where all too few lucky bunnies go (but too many for the overworked and understaffed founder, Marcy Schaaf, to handle with her small cadre of selfless volunteers), pop by their site at www.saveabunny.org. And, of course, to see pics of adorable bunnies, go there, too.
Also, I have had over 200 hits already, and, since I do not even have 4 friends, some of them must be by people I don’t know. If any of you out there is a veterinarian, or work in a veterinary office, or are a vet tech, or are skilled in that way, and are knowledgeable about bunnies, SaveABunny is offering internship or volunteer opportunities. I don’t have all the details yet in terms of hours, days, etc., but that is because I am behind on my workload. I have asked Marcy to send me the specifics so that I can post it on various sites around the area, which is Marin County, Mill Valley, to be specific. If you need credits for school, practical hours, perhaps, that might be also something you can work out with Marcy. I’m not sure how that works, but if you are interested in volunteering there, either as a vet tech (or at all, in general), feel free to contact me here, at my e-mail address at maika_shen88@yahoo.com, or at SaveABunny, at the link above or at the side of the page.
If you know anyone who lives around Mill Valley and has bunny and veterinary experience and who might be interested in volunteering, please pass this information on to him or her! I can speak from experience that it is a wonderful shelter to work for, and if I lived closer and were not so scared of the drive, I would definitely be there, helping to groom bunnies. It is why I am doing all this work for them from my computer, though, as well! It is well worth it, and I cannot tell you how absolutely wonderful and satisfying it is to be surrounded by all those bunnies. If I could afford to live down there (or if Marcy would just let me move into her house with her and her bunnies!) I’d totally volunteer all the time! It may be viewed as volunteer work and an act of kindness, but the person working with the bunnies would be the one to benefit, believe me. It’s a wonderful thing, to be with all those bunnies.
So please spread the word, and meanwhile, as soon as I find out the details of time, days, level of experience, I will post them! Vive les lapins!
