A Cool New Bag from JetPens

My exemplary friends,

I just got my newsletter from JetPens, and I saw some really cool bags that I think are new for the autumn season: the Lihit Lab Teffa bags, which come in black, brown, orange, and yellow green. Let me first say that these bags are Japanese products, and, true to the Japanese standard of making awesome bags, they are sleek, cunning, full of pockets, and utterly organized.

Their size is designated as A5, so that means that an A5-sized notebook will fit perfectly in the big pocket, while smaller things will fit in the little ones.

There’s a pen-sized pocket and one big enough for an iPod or cell phone, and another slightly larger for cords or notepads or perhaps an external disk drive.

Following is the product description from JetPens:

This A5 size case will hold all of your everyday office needs in one organized place. The main compartment will easily fit an A5 notebook. The front of the bag has five different sections: one front pen pocket, one small pocket with a Velcro closure for a cell phone, one larger pocket with a Velcro closure for a slim camera with charger cord or a pocket-size notepad, and two open slim pockets in the back for slipping in papers or note cards. Several colors available.

Case dimensions: Approximately 10 inches (25.5 cm) long, 7.1 inches (18 cm) tall, and 0.6 inches (1.6 cm) wide.

It’s not huge, certainly not a briefcase, but it’s a neat way to fit all of your essentials together without lugging a briefcase-sized bag around and wasting a bunch of space. The price is great at $14, and, if this company is up to the Japanese standard of excellence, it will be a very well-put-together product. It’s a way to look professional and organized and prepared because you won’t have to hunt and dive for a pen in a capacious purse or briefcase. And it is gender-neutral enough so that no man need feel ashamed to carry one.
The one thing that I would change about it if I could is to add some kind of handle. This bag is not unlike the Dr. Ion Maruchiwaku (“Multiwork”) case, two of which I have:

The Lihit bag is very similar in that it’s really slim, just big enough to fit a notebook or two and a few small items, but the thing that I like about the Dr. Ion bag is its handle. Also, it has two cloth loops that I used to attach a shoulder strap to, so I can carry it diagonally across my back. From what I could see of the pictures on the JetPens site, the Lihit bag doesn’t have that option, or a built-in handle, and that’s the only drawback I can think of. However, the price is also appropriately lower; the Maruchiwaku was (when I bought it) quite a bit more expensive.

I’m kind of a stickler for having my hands free when I’m out and about, but some people don’t mind carry things, and if you’re that kind of person, this bag’s for you. And if I saw you holding it, I would come up to you and ask you where you got it because I would be so impressed by the professional look and organizational potential of it.

So check out JetPens’ new products for fall, and don’t forget to look at the Lihit bags–and don’t dally; there are only 10 left of the brown as of this post, the black has sold out, and there are 5 of the orange and 8 of the yellow green. Get ‘em while they’re hot!
